Triplets are a little different to regular 8ths, 16ths, 32nds etc, which are all exact doubles of the previous. Triplet however, are 3 even notes per beat. Although they are written with a regular 8th note 1 flag or beam, they are grouped and written in 3 per beat..

They are counted as: 1 + a, 2 + a, 3 + a, 4 + a
