PROTECTING YOUR DRUMS

PROTECTING YOUR DRUMS IN CASES

In this lesson we look at protecting your drums. You will want to carry your drums in cases when travelling, to protect them from getting knocked around. You can use hard cases or soft cases. Hard cases are the sturdier case, and if you’re touring for an extending time, or particularly if you’re flying, you will want to use hard cases, not soft. Soft are fine for doing gigs around town though.

If you have a hard case, there are certain things you can do to further protect the drums from even the case itself. I like to put rubber sleeping mat cut outs in the lid and base of the case. This will mean that if the drum moves inside the case it will only hit the foam and not the hard plastic lid or base.

Remember how important good cases for your drums are. You've invested good money into your kit, make sure you protect your investment with quality cases.
