Sleishman Drums are the worlds only 100% free
floating drums. But what are free floating drums, how to they work,
and how to they compare to regular drums?
"Free Floating" means that nothing is touching
the drum except the drum skins at either ends of the drum. With
every brand of drum on the market place except Sleishman, you'll
notice they have lugs attached to the drum shell. What these lugs
are doing is choking up some of the vibration that moves through a
drum after its skin has been hit. Therefore, because there is less
vibration going through the drum, there is less sound/tone, less
quality sound/tone and the tuning becomes more difficult.

You can see here - nothing is touching the
shell, it sits inside a cage.

With a Sleishman Drum the entire tuning range from absolute
slap low, to bongo high is one continual sweet
spot, because there is nothing touching/choking the shell.
The drum sits inside a cage and the only thing touching the shell is
the skins. This makes tuning an absolute breeze. Also the quality
and amount of tone is unmatched, as is the responsiveness - you get
the same sound when played extremely soft as when played extremely
loud, and all dynamics in between.
