EXERCISE 1.

In this lesson we will be introducing 8th notes into the bass drum rhythm. Here we play 8ths on: 2 + 3 with the bass drum. The hihats play regular 8th notes with the RH, and the snare just plays beats 2 and 4..

EXERCISE 2.

In exercise 2 we play the bass drum on all 4 beats ("four on the floor"), the snare backbeats on 2 and 4, and the hihats on all 4 beats..
