The Five Stroke Roll
uses a double stroke sticking to play 5 notes. You can either play it in regular time, where the 4 notes (the double strokes) are 8th notes and the 5th note (the single stroke accent) is a quarter note. Or another way you can practice it is as quintuplets, where every single note is the same time value. Both approaches use the same sticking.
