In this lesson we will look at independence
between the snare drum and bass drum, underneath the jazz ride
pattern. In many styles of jazz you need to be able to interplay
between bass and snare, often times improvising as ideas come in to
your head, but all the while keeping the jazz ride pattern going,
with the hihat chick on 2 and 4.
Once again start with just the jazz ride figure with hihat on backbeat, then gradually introduce the following figures with the snare drum and bass drum..
|The Jazz Ride Beat||Beginner Jazz Fills||The Jazz 9 Fill|
|The Jazz Shuffle||Snare Independence||Cross Phrasing In 5's|
|The Viennese Waltz||Snare & Bass Independence||Loose Jazz Phrasing|
|Hihat Splashing & Kicking||Fast Jazz Brush Stroke||Hihat Stirring|
