In this lesson we're going to continue on with ghost notes, this time using them straight after a back beat (beat 2 or 4). This is the beat we're trying to play..
There is actually a technique you will need to employ here called the "Control Stroke", otherwise known as the Down Stroke. After you have hit the accent on beat 2 or 4, leave the finger tips on the stick so that is doesn't rebound back up. Then use the wrist to lower the stroke for the ghost note. Be very careful not to grip the stick hard, otherwise you hand will act as a shock absorber and you may injure yourself.
