In this lesson we will continue with the rhythm
expanding idea. Specifically we will deal with phrasing in 16th
notes and 32nd notes, rather than swung triplets.
Take the following phrase..
This will be our accent series, from which all further variations will be built. Let's start by adding all the missing 16th notes, as soft tap strokes. Always use an alternating sticking, starting with the RH..
From here, let's turn it into more of a roll, by doubling up (with double strokes) all the in between 16th notes, into 32nd notes..
Next let's orchestrate it around the kit, placing the RH accents on floor tom, and LH accents on first tom..
And finally let's once again put the RH accents on the cymbal with bass drum underneath, and all other notes remain on snare..
