In this lesson we will look at adding 16th note doubles on the bass drum, within a regular straight 8th rock beat. The hands are playing the same regular 8th note pattern as in previous rock lessons..
But now we're playing a bass note on beat 3, and also 3+, and 3a - that is, the last two 16th notes of beat 3. It looks like this..
Take your time and make sure the doubles are exactly falling into a 16th feel. Don't speed this exercise up too soon, whilst your hands may be able to play faster, the speed you can play this pattern at will be dictated by how fast you can play that double. Always aim for evenness and consistency, over speed.
