I'm super excited to announce,
the Sleishman "Jack Bennett Signature Series"
Snare will be launching very early 2009, possibly even later this
year. First can I say what a massive honor and privilege it is to be
a part of this, never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd end up
with my own snare! Also I'd like to extend a huge thanks to Dave and
Don Sleishman,
who believe in me enough to put my name to their product.
At the Sleishman factory with Dave, Louie
and Don
We will be putting together a full information
kit on the snare, including video/audio recordings of it, specs etc
at
www.jackbennettsnare.com - at the moment we just have the basic
flyer up with a hi res version for download. The snare is 14x5.5
Tasmanian Blackwood which boasts an incredibly full response across
all registers. We'll be getting you demos of it within the next
couple of weeks. Please direct all snare enquiries to
Icanplaydrums.com through our
support centre.
The Blushda Workshop - 10 Different Ways Of Playing The Blushda!
If you've not yet heard of the Blushda,
you definitely want to view this vid and play the audio files
beneath it. The Blushda is one of the most popular drum fills,
period. Tony Williams was the first drummer to really make the lick
famous/popular and since then a host of great contemporary drummers
have taken it in all different directions.
For me, this was THE fill I had heard for years
on records played by people like Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve
Smith etc, and for the longest time I couldn't figure it out. I had
no idea that the sticking would actually be as simple as it is. To
me the Blushda is also one of the most versatile phrases around. You
can literally play it in jazz, funk, fusion, latin, pop and it
sounds incredibly hip in any situation, still to this day.
To highlight this for you, I've
put 11 variations below for you to click on, to get a feel for all
the different ways you can play the Blushda - in different styles
and subdivisions.
To my knowledge, there has never been a
full blown video or DVD explanation of ALL the different
ways of playing the Blushda fill, so in Rudiments Around The Kit
(RATK) I have done a huge section on it, explaining 10 ways to use
it. Below is a recap section from RATK showing you side by side all
10 ways detailed in RATK, check out the audio buttons also!

What is Rudiments Around The Kit? (RATK)
Rudiments Around The Kit
is an exciting new multi DVD set we're releasing in time for
Christmas this year. It covers absolutely every aspect of
applying your standard and non standard rudiment / hand
patterns around the kit as fills, beats or solo ideas.
All of the DVD's like this
on the market today, teaching systems of applying rudiments
around the kit, only teach a few ways to play the
Standard 40 PASIC Rudiments.
While RATK will definitely go in depth into demonstrating
great ways of applying the standard 40, it goes WAY beyond
this, covering (we can guarantee it) twice
as much information as our competition. Here is what is
covered in RATK..
* Complete Technique
Workshop
* Standard 40 Rudiments - Applied
* Standard 40 Rudiments - Permutations
