Latin Flams - Playing Flams On "e" & "a" In A
Latin-American Context!
One of my favourite things to hear
is a great Latin American percussionist blazing away on timbales,
congas or bongos. One thing that always strikes me about the
phrasing they use is a lot of notes are typically played on the
in between 16th notes. That is, the E
and A 16ths..
This gives the phrases a more syncopated and
less obvious or stated feel. Check the video for a timbale (played
on vdrums) demonstration of this, taken from the "Rudiments In
Styles" DVD in Rudiments Around The Kit.
The Rudiments In Styles DVD
shows you heaps of ways of playing great sounding rudiment fills
within lots of rock, funk, jazz, latin styles and more..

2) New Backing Music For RATK Ezybeats -
6 Tempos Per Track!
Click the play buttons
above, and you'll hear that the new
backing tracks for the
RATK DVD have a completely different feel to them than the ones
provided in UDS 2007 and also Funk & Illusion Drumming DVD sets.
Since these previous 2 sets used Ezybeats that were predominantly
backing beats (as opposed to fills),
the focus was largely on locking in the kick drum with the bass
guitar parts. Therefore the tracks were also
quantized to perfect time. They were also very keys heavy.
The new tracks in RATK
sound different. Since the majority
of the tracks are; a bar of time, then a bar of silence (where you
would then play your rudiment fill), there's no need for the music
to be perfectly quantized. Plus they are predominantly guitar
(rhythm, lead and bass) tracks and I think they breathe a bit more
when not quantized.
To add a bit of variety we've written regular
clean, blues and heavy guitar tracks, but also thrown in some
acoustic, banjo and even sitar sounds! Have a listen to some of the
tracks from the Ezybeats above (which you will be getting on a
separate CD With or Without Drums in the RATK DVD set), and you can
also download 2 full tracks to play long with right now!

What is Rudiments Around The Kit? (RATK)
Rudiments Around The Kit
is an exciting new multi DVD set we're releasing in time for
Christmas this year. It covers absolutely every aspect of
applying your standard and non standard rudiment / hand
patterns around the kit as fills, beats or solo ideas.
All of the DVD's like this
on the market today, teaching systems of applying rudiments
around the kit, only teach a few ways to play the
Standard 40 PASIC Rudiments.
While RATK will definitely go in depth into demonstrating
great ways of applying the standard 40, it goes WAY beyond
this, covering (we can guarantee it) twice
as much information as our competition. Here is what is
covered in RATK..
* Complete Technique
Workshop
* Standard 40 Rudiments - Applied
* Standard 40 Rudiments - Permutations
