ANNOUNCEMENTS!
Hi guys!
It's been a frantic month
gone by for me, 8 Cat Stevens shows a week (with the hint of a national
tour in the wings) and more filming of the Ultimate DrumMING Review. Yes
it was called Ultimate DrumMER Review, but I've now changed the format a
little..
ULTIMATE
DRUMMING REVIEW.
It is now going to be a DVD
that reviews drumming as style specific not drummer specific -
and go through all the different genres detailing the way drumming has
developed and changed over time. There will still be just as much (and
quite similar) footage and broken down analyses of patterns, beats,
fills and solos as before, but taught as style specific not drummer
specific. Why the change? Simple - to make sure I don't infringe on the
artistic rights of any drummers.
The ironic thing and the
good news for you is that I realized since so much of drummings'
sticking patterns, beats, fill and solo ideas are generic or transparent
from style to style, the majority of the footage is quite similar
anyway. So don't worry you'll still learn all the beats and fills
you were looking forward to!
..Now just like there are
countless books that teach rock drumming, there are many books and
videos that showcase different drumming styles or a combination of
styles. Here are the key points that will make UDR different from what's
on the market today:
1) Scope Of Material
Covered. UDR will start at the earliest form of Jazz and cover all
the styles up to TODAY. Early Jazz to Modern Jazz, Classic Rock to
Modern Rock and Fusion and Electric Jazz as well.
2) Detail Of Patterns.
Some DVDs that showcase many styles are presented as one long drum solo
and that's it. Even if the individual styles are then talked about,
the exact patterns used are not detailed and broken down! So you're
left with the feeling of, "Well that was awesome but I still can't play
what I just saw". With the styles I demonstrate in UDR, every single
pattern will be broken down to the exact sticking pattern, how to apply
it on the kit in many different subdivisions and so on.
So stay tuned for
Ultimate Drumming Review!
MY EMAIL.
This week we upgraded our
server, and although the site is back to normal (all Ezybeats are re
uploaded to the members section lessons), I'm still waiting on my
regular email account to be reconfigured. If you've sent me an email
over the last week and haven't got a reply, I apologize, but could you
please re send it to this backup address:
icanplaydrums@hotmail.com
I am using this account to
do all my email until my original email accounts are back up and
running. Thanks for your patience on this!
UDS IS WINDOWS VISTA
COMPATIBLE.
Those of you using Ultimate
Drumming Solution with Windows VISTA will know the eplayer (video
player) doesnt load the files. Here is the Vista eplayer_setup.exe file,
which does play them. If you currently use or are upgrading to Vista,
you will need to download the new video player for the videos in the UDS
ebooks to load. Here it is:

ON WITH
THE SHOW..
"Playing Patterns Of 5 Within Triplet Beats!"
Here's a sneak preview
from Ultimate Drumming Review. I was filming this yesterday from the
Fusion section. OK, so fusion music is a very advanced style (or
combination of styles) both technically and conceptually, so this
pattern might be a little hard to grasp. Here goes!
The pattern we're going to
play today is a 2 bar pattern, and it consists mainly of 2 different
sticking units. So lets learn these first
They are:
..and..

Once you have those down,
let's learn the first bar..
And here's the 2nd bar..

You can see in the 2nd bar,
that there are 2 units of 5 being played, here is the same thing written
out with the 5 pattern written in..

Here's the video! 29MB
